Get to Know the Lovely Miss Comstock!

With all of the craziness of COVID, it can be difficult to get to know the new students and/or faculty that have arrived at NCA this school year. One of the newest additions to the teachers here is Miss Comstock! She is an incredibly wonderful woman of God, and I encourage all of you to get to know her so that you can recognize the best ways to make her feel welcome and cared for here at NCA. Let’s dive right in!

  1. Q: Where are you from? What do you like most about your home country/state/city?

A: I am from Rockton, IL. One of my favorite things about my hometown is that it is surrounded by a bunch of forest preserves. I got to spend a lot of time adventuring and enjoying nature with its Creator.

  1. Q: What are some of your hobbies? What do you like to do in your free time?

A: I love to wander around outside, run, play piano, and teach Bible to all of you gems. 🙂

  1. Q: What was the most difficult part of moving here?

A: The lack of sleep. It’s so worth it though!

  1. Q: What do you like most about Nicaragua?

A: People actually talk to each other here, and enjoy doing it! In most of the places I’ve been to in the U.S., no one simply hangs out along the streets and outside of their houses with the intention of chatting with neighbors, nor do people pause their work to greet people passing by. I love the culture of welcoming strangers, of talking to the people that you see, and of not treating people as annoyances that you have to avoid making eye contact with at all times. It’s a relief and a joy to be here!

  1. Q: What motivates you to work hard?

A: I care for God, and He cares for you all. I believe that guiding people to know, love, and become like Jesus is extremely important, and so I ask Him for the strength to do everything I can to help the Holy Spirit do those works in each of you (Philippians 1:8-11; Colossians 3:23-24).

  1. Q: What brought you to NCA? How did you learn about our school?

A: Long story short, God put Nicaragua on my heart about 5 or 6 years ago. Recently, my college required me to do a semester of student teaching at an ACSI school, and so after praying and considering other ASCI schools, God brought me to NCA.

  1. What do you do here at NCA?

A: I student teach the 7th, 9th, and 11th Bible classes.

  1. Q: What do you like most about NCA?

A: I absolutely love seeing people in high school who actively love and worship Jesus. I see so much growth happening here, both spiritually and academically, and I’m very grateful this place exists. I am aware of some of NCA’s issues, and I am sure that I am unaware of many more, but I encourage students and teachers alike to not take this place for granted. God has blessed you.

  1. Q: Favorite verse/Bible story?

A: I can only narrow it down to two passages! Exodus 34:6-8 and the Farewell Discourse (John 14-17).

  1. Q: Any advice for students that may want to teach in the future?

A: Right now, take note of the teachers who have the most impact on you and why. When you go to college, keep all of the work that you do. I’m constantly using my textbooks, notes, papers, and projects to supplement the lessons I’m giving you right now!

Make sure to greet Miss Comstock in the hallways and let her know that she’s appreciated here! Keep her in your prayers as well. Big transitions like the one she has experienced are never easy 🙂
