Mañana Deportiva

On Saturday, May 25, 2024, the Business and Entrepreneurship Club (BEC) hosted its final event of the school year, “Mañana Deportiva”!! This event was held at NCAI from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. to celebrate mothers in honor of the upcoming Mother’s Day. The event featured a Zumbatón and a soccer game, organized by Sofía Santamaría, Cristiana Hernández, and Miriam Díaz.

The day began with an energetic Zumba session led by a professional Zumba instructor and a co-instructor, funded by donations. The first two hours saw a great turnout, with many moms, kids, and NCA students joining in. The Zumba session was an excellent opportunity for families to bond and relieve stress through dance. The BEC awarded prizes to moms who showed outstanding energy and participation, with special drinks called Vitalit given as rewards.

After an hour of Zumba, the focus shifted to the soccer game, coordinated by Mr. Quiroz. Initially, BEC did not expect a large group of people for the soccer game, but many people of various ages—from elementary kids to 30-year-olds—showed up. Participants included both NCA students and community members. Due to the unexpected turnout, the soccer field had to be divided into smaller sections to accommodate everyone. It was inspiring to see high schoolers playing alongside adults and a significant number of girls participating in the games. BEC organized mini-tournaments, and it was heartwarming to see some families where the mom participated in Zumba while the dad played soccer.

In addition to the sports activities, the event featured a space for mom entrepreneurs to promote and sell their products, including jewelry, makeup, hotdogs, nacatamales, baked goods, and other food items. Throughout the event, BEC received support from various sponsors, providing drinks, bags, and financial contributions. Sponsors included Telmovil, Fuente Pura, Gasolinera Pronto, Vaquero Alegre, Florestal, and KIA. Thanks to these sponsors, 200 free drinks and tea were distributed.

The event was a financial success, raising a total of $500 from attendee contributions, sponsors, and donations. The funds were donated to Compassion International – Rayitos de Sol, an organization that supports pregnant mothers.

Overall, “Mañana Deportiva” was an encouraging and successful event, fostering unity and celebrating mothers in a fun and engaging way!
