It is probable that the word “electrolyte” has been taught to you in multiple science classes. Whether you remember the meaning of this word or not, this science term has the ability to impact our daily lives. 

First, recall what an “electrolyte” is. Electrolytes are compounds that, when dissolved in water, break into ions. These conduct electricity. However, non-electrolytes are compounds that do not break into ions. These do not conduct electricity.

How does the understanding of such a word help us in our ordinary lives? Well, understanding electrolytes help us abstain from making rash decisions. Even decisions that can be capable of destroying our lives.

Suppose there is a bottle of water with hydrogen cyanide. Since you know it is a weak electrolyte, you will know that the bottle has cyanide gas, water, hydrogen ions, and cyanide ions. Therefore, you wouldn’t open the bottle since it is very toxic. However, not knowing this and opening the bottle can lead to death.Therefore, it is important for us to understand the importance of electrolytes and their application.
