In February, the Junior AP English Language class presented their academic seminars to an audience of students and teachers. Covering a wide range of topics\u2014from AI usage to abortion to Star Wars\u2014they focused on crafting persuasive arguments and engaging in thoughtful discussions. Each student not only delivered their presentation but also responded to audience questions, showcasing their ability to think critically and defend their viewpoints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Students had the opportunity to choose their own topics, often selecting subjects they were passionate about and eager to share with others. Judah Star shared:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI decided to write about Artificial Intelligence because it\u2019s something that really interests me. While AI is incredibly useful and exciting, I also can\u2019t help but worry about how it might affect my future job in technology and computer science. I wanted to explore both the benefits of AI and the concerns about it taking over jobs. After researching, I realized that while AI will change the job market, it\u2019s also creating new roles and opportunities for people to learn and grow. I think it\u2019s important for students like me to understand how AI is shaping the future and how we can adapt to make the most of these changes.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Debora Hern\u00e1ndez presented on the link between ADHD and the gut microbiome. She explained that while ADHD medications may relieve symptoms, they do not address the root cause. Instead, she emphasized the importance of improving gut health to manage ADHD naturally and support brain function. She highlighted certain foods that can help, such as fermented foods (yogurt, kimchi, kefir) and foods rich in omega-3s. She also argued that schools should play a role by providing healthier, more nutritious meals and limiting processed, sugary foods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
