Welcome to “Get To Know Your Seniors” Part 3! It’s been so fun to interview these wonderful young men and women, sharing their experiences and advice has been great and funny to hear. They definitely bring life into our school, it will be sad to see them go but we will have these memories and key words to hold on to. Don’t forget to look at our last but definitely not least group of seniors in our next paper!
Grace Martinez:
How would you describe yourself in three words?
“As an introvert, positive, and hard-working”
How long have you been at NCA and how has your experience been?
“I have been at NCA for 15 years, and my experience has been very good, in a safe environment where I feel like I can be myself.”
What are you planning to do after you graduate?
“After I graduate I will work and go to college. But I don’t know where”
What are your hobbies and why?
“Playing piano, because I like music and singing.”
Which teacher has had the biggest impact on you throughout your time at NCA?
“I think Mrs. Stuebner because of her science classes”
Do you have any advice for lowerclassmen?
“My advice is enjoy your time here and don’t try to skip stages, and don’t forget to spend time with friends.”
Marlon Morales:
How would you describe yourself in three words?
“I would describe myself as spontaneous, respectful, and honest”
How long have you been at NCA and how has your experience been?
“I have been at NCA since first grade and I think it’s a great experience, just coming to the school and people I surround myself with has been absolutely amazing.”
What are you planning to do after you graduate?
“After I graduate I’m planning on waiting 6 months and then going to Semeraro University in Honduras to study Agricultural Business Management.”
What are your hobbies and why?
“My hobbies are soccer, basketball, and riding horses. Because it’s fun and I like being outdoors.”
Which teacher has had the biggest impact on you throughout your time at NCA?
“Someone who I think I can say has had a big impact on my maturing process at NCA has been Mr. House. He is just a very wise guy and you can always ask questions you might not feel comfortable asking anyone else.”
Do you have any advice for lowerclassmen?
“You are never too cool to do that thing you think you are too cool to do. Just live life, enjoy it because high school flies by. You think it’s a long time but it’s not, time flies so enjoy the time you have.”
Livia Ortega:
How would you describe yourself in three words?
“Responsible, hardworking, and courageous”
How long have you been at NCA and how has your experience been?
“I’ve been here since PK1, this place is home for me and my second family. I’ve had ups and downs but my experience has always been great.”
What are you planning to do after you graduate?
“I plan to continue my studies either in a university or college.”
What are your hobbies and why?
“One of my hobbies is soccer, I really enjoyed playing it last season. I take memorable experiences that I will always cherish.”
Which teacher has had the biggest impact on you throughout your time at NCA?
Mrs. Stuebner or Mrs. Uh. They have all seen me grow through the years and are always there to counsel me and support me. In my last few years, Mr. Kamps have had a big impact on my life too.”
Do you have any advice for lowerclassmen?
“The sooner you realize that studying and doing work on time is important, the smoother it will go. Always strive to do things well and improve little by little, things don’t get better in one jump, but through multiple little steps.”
Jemimah Partington:
How would you describe yourself in three words?
“Um… introverted, competitive, and dedicated.”
How long have you been at NCA and how has your experience been?
“I came last year, so a year and a few months, and it’s been good.”
What are you planning to do after you graduate?
“I’m going to go to university, probably in the States and study Special Education. Like speech and language pathology.”
What are your hobbies and why?
“I like active things, I like art, they just fit my interests well.”
Which teacher has had the biggest impact on you throughout your time at NCA?
“Mrs. Uhl, because she reached out to get to know me as a person even though I don’t have her as a teacher.”
Do you have any advice for lowerclassmen?
“Be kind, be the friend you want to have.”
Caleb Starkenburg:
How would you describe yourself in three words?
*After thinking this over for a very long time and staring into space*: “I would say that I’m sarcastic, musically-inclined, and friendly.”
How long have you been at NCA and how has your experience been?
“I’ve been at NCA since Pre-K1 and I’d say I’ve had a pretty good experience.”
What are you planning to do after you graduate?
“I don’t really know what I’m going to study but I’m going to go to college… somewhere. But probably on the east coast and study computer science and maybe change that later.”
What are your hobbies and why?
“I really like playing instruments because I enjoy that and I’m good at it, and it’s fun for me.”
Which teacher has had the biggest impact on you throughout your time at NCA?
“I don’t know. I would probably say Mrs. Uhl because I’ve had multiple classes with her that I really enjoyed and also time during the musical. She’s wished me to work harder than I normally would and to do things outside of my comfort zone, and that’s been… something.”
Do you have any advice for lowerclassmen?
“I would say if you just, (maybe this isn’t the type of advice you’re looking for)… but if you just do your homework, even if you do it badly, you’ll get good grades.” “Speaking from experience?” “No… yes, just do your homework.”
